Chuck, Thank you for your help :), I managed to install gmake by getting it from :
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/packages-8.1-release/Latest/ But mplayer fails to compile :( http://pastebin.com/KkUpb4jy I will await suggestions from mplayer list to get it going.
