Yes, the "verbosity" of the error message

        error {0-01}

makes me believe that this is already in a very early stage. Maybe
some forgotten remains of a Linux boot loader? In this case, trying
to boot from USB (or maybe floppy?) could help hard-wiping at least
the beginning of the disk, using dd.
