Well, if it does not work it can be driver bug.

In iwn case try to set MAC address of iwn before creating wlan or
you will need to set same MAC on wlanX and iwn.
Actually I can confirm that. I use lagg for failover, and I remember now you have to set the 'real' interface to the MAC of the other lagg member, not a 'psuedo-device' or it won't work. Same principle applies here.
