I've a problem with sendmail setup,
for which I have no satisfactory solution.

I've several hosts, all on the university
network. I'd like to forward all root's mail
from all these hosts to my personal email.

The problem seems to be with the From field.

If I leave the root exposed, the From
field looks e.g. r...@mech-anton240.men.bris.ac.uk,
which is rejected by the university mailer,
because it has no knowledge of this address.

The only solution I've found is not to
expose root, and then masquerade all From
to @bris.ac.uk, which is acceptable, but
then I get root mail from all my hosts always originating
at r...@bris.ac.uk, so I have trouble distinguishing
between individual hosts. I solve this
by setting the hostname in the subject like.

But I'm mostly worried about not exposing root.
Plus the network people hate to see r...@bris.ac.uk
anywhere on the network.

Can anybody suggest a better solution?

Thanks
