Stacey, FreeBSD uses UDP based traceroute while Windows boxes use ICMP based traceroute. Some providers (like ComCast cable) block ICMP packets (so tracert on Windows fails), but let UDP packets through (which means that BSD based traceroute succeeds). HTH, Frank
