I just got mplayer working very well yesterday... I am
really impressed with what is working now!

On 4.8-STABLE I had to recompile my kernel with:

options CPU_ENABLE_SSE
options CPU_ATHLON_SSE_HACK

Thanks for this info. When you modified the kernel, you just used the ports that I'm using and it worked??? nothing fancy at all???

[also]
Win32 warning Accessed uninitialized Critical section (0x66bc4210)!

Yup. I was getting a very similar error message when trying to play quicktime videos. I recompiled the kernel with those two options and now it works perfectly. It plays "windows media" files too.

All I can say is "great work" to those who hooked this all up.
