The boot.flp image is an all-in-one image. You can use it with a 2.88Mb floppy drive, if you have such a thing, but generally nowadays it's intended for building into certain types of bootable CD-Rom. To install the system using floppies you need: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.9-RELEASE/floppies/kern.flp ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.9-RELEASE/floppies/mfsroot.flp These contain exactly the same material as boot.flp but divided between two disk images.
