Hi Kevin,

Does your /sbin/init have the immutable flag set?

Try

        ls -lo /sbin/init

to find out.  If it does, and you want to remove it, try

        chflags noschg /sbin/init

chflags noschg /sbin/init command worked perfectly. 

This is what I had set:

-r-x------  1 root  wheel  - 280656 Mar 14 18:59 /sbin/init
