This is what you could do to check your info.
$ sysctl -a |grep thermal hw.acpi.thermal.min_runtime: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.polling_rate: 10 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature: 2950 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.active: -1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.thermal_flags: 0 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._PSV: 3732 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._HOT: -1 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._CRT: 3732 hw.acpi.thermal.tz0._ACx: 3732 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 $
If there is no thermal you may not have support for it. I read on the list where centrino now has full powernow(or something) support on BSD. Also search the acpi list for your board and/or bios. There are some black listed products because acpi is broke on them. I seem to remember some asus products mentioned. Read the handbook about fixing or forcing acpi to load too if it is note black listed.
