Thanks very much Robert, that worked perfectly. I can now access the Videos I record on my Nokia phone via the media reader and FreeBSD. In case anyone wishes to do the same, I found this article via google http://www.saunalahti.fi/~laakkon1/linux/3650_vid.php that details how to get mplayer working with the .3gp video format, and also how to convert it to other formats.
