Seeing as you're running 5.x, you've also got the choice of PF for firewalling. That's the OpenBSD fork of ipf with all sorts of goodies like CARP and ALTQ added to it. Syntax is very much like IPF, with lots of nice touches for easily doing standard things, eg. like antispoofing rules.
