I got this message today from cron, apparently my security update failed.
Any Idea how to resolve this. I am also get a similar message on a 5.3 box.

It appears that you are running a custom update script, would help if you published it. And try run it by hand, it should be located in /etc/periodic/security or similar. Then send whatever debug info you can deduce from the output.
