A few months ago, I had my Father set up on Earthlink. I've heard tell (rumor probably) that they plan on switching to something like a software setup like aol. I've tried netzero and peoplepc, and couldn't get anywhere with them. I don't know about netscape. Your best bet _may_ be to go through a local dialup service (if you can find one, these days). Oh yeah... I don't know if AT&T is an option where you are, but they are straight forward and don't require any junk software for connection.
