Back in the good old days, that would have been OpenLook. Today, you'd probably find KDE or GNOME on most systems (FreeBSD, Linux, OS X).


It appears that CDE is a strictly commercial package, so I won't be
using that.

It's not hard. "pkg_delete -xf kde" or "pkg_delete -xf gnome".

[ You might want to be a little more selective than using such a wildcard, however, although if you've got the precompiled packages handy, reinstalling something again is not a big deal if you need a dependency. ]
