unfortunately i can't boot with verbose logging, it
is freezing to death by acpi (discussing this matter on acpi maillist).
these are the last lines:

well, i don't see this line, nothin' like this, so
here's what you asked for:

http://green.field.hu/dmesg.txt
http://green.field.hu/mptable.txt
http://green.field.hu/conf.txt

i hope it helps..

ps: should i comment out device apm and build a new kernel?

Hi there -

Fasinating, I was expecting that mptable would display errors, but it looks ok (however it does not seem to be picked up at boot - see next).

With respect to the dmesg, clearly the system does not seem to recognize the dual board - also I see no mptable header and no apics either (see footnote below)- we need a verbose dmesg (boot -v or pick the 'boot with verbose messages' menu option) to help you any more than that!

The url in jmc's message looked promising - definitely worth setting your BIOS as indicated there, and seeing if the mptable and ioapics show up!

Good luck

Mark

P.s : Recommend replying to the list as well, so that others more knowlegeable than I can help you too!

Footnote:

Here is the fist few lines of the dmesg for my dual system - you definitely want to look for the MPTable header and the ioapic lines
