What do people expect their firewall/router to be doing? I'm using an old 486DX-50 with 20MB of RAM and a pair of ISA-bus SMC8013 cards to manage my cable connection using ipfilter and ipnat. It's definitely not a speed daemon but I managed to download the 5.0-RC ISO's at just over 440KBps - though I suspect this was close to saturating the CPU based on previous experiments. Unless you have something like a T3 (or better) connection, want to run applications, VPNs and natd, a 800MHz 686 is vast overkill.
