Btw, the most recent *stable* release is 5.3. You'd better use this one. What do you mean "an alternative on the first menu"? Please choose the stage you experience shutdown in from the following link: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/install-start.html
