Hmmm.  My rc.conf has ntpd_enable-"YES", but not ntpdate_enable="YES".

Setting your BIOS clock shouldn't be necessary since the bootup scripts will do an ntp sync before raising the securelevel anyway. Make sure you have ntpdate_enable="YES" in rc.conf.
