In theory, yes. If you need or want to shuffle partitions or repartition,
then it becomes a whole new game. Keeping existing partitions where they
are is simpler and typically works.

Be sure to try things out on a memory disk first. I haven't done any of
this myself, so my reasoning is not backed by actual experience.
