O melhor era tentar verificar o que ele mostra no console antes de travar. Ou mesmo ligar dos DEBUGs para tentar identificar. A melhor solução é mesmo atualizar para o 6.1. Do 5.x para o 6.x é tranquilo. Outra coisa. Tente bootar ele sem ACPI para ver se ele fica mais tempo no ar.
