A couple of weeks ago, I wrote:

Well. Due to an embarrassing bug in 2.2.6 introduced by yours truly (bug
#18323), it looks like we'll be spinning 2.2.7 in a few days. So,
there's still an opportunity for last-minute polishing.

I gave up on this idea -- too much risk of ending up with garbage from
mismatched strings.
