If you send something to this list and at the same time to the members of this list, they will of course get it twice. If they reply to the one that you sent to them directly, rather than to one from the list processor, then no one on the list will get your message. Best is to send to the list and not individuals and the list.
If you get a lengthy message that was sent to this list before you read it and replied, you should snip off most or all of the message that came to you, just keep the subject the same. It is okay for the computer to preface the subject with RE: The point being here is that everyone has already sent the first message and doesn't need to read through it again. They can always go back to the previous message in the thread, or look at the web archive. By resending the whole schmear over and over you are adding space and time to the equation. Some of us have dial up connections, and those people are having to download or send messages that just keep getting larger. I also suggest that people put their replies at the top, or intermixed with the reply if it is required for clarity. paul
