Mike, Thank you so much for sending me the "Creating a Successful Libertarian Outreach Organization" pamphlet. It is well written and informative, and everyone here should have a copy. In fact, all of the Libertarian activists that I know should have a copy.
One of the interesting things that Mr. Wollstein presents is the idea that outreach groups should treat themselves as a social club. This is exactly what I have been trying to get the LPBC to do for some time. To hold public gatherings in which food and drink are central in the attraction, and were people are invited to speak, or a topic of discussion is a central theme. Many LP members thinks that this means having private events for dues paying members. Not very much like outreach. Could be educational, but not to the unconverted, because they weren't invited. I have membership in a number of civic organizations that use many of the things mentioned. I am expanding my outreach work within those orgs and plan to use some of this information to help. In any case, there is a lot of good information in this little pamphlet for us to use. Thanks again Mike. paul
