Some mild
suggestions:
- Aristotle
was born in AD 384, and the principles of constitutional government and
separation of powers (among others) were conceived by Solon of Athens
circa 594 BC. Cart is far
before the horse there. Recommend acknowledging both Solon and Montesquieu
among others.
- I
would suggest including something to the effect of the superiority of individual
rights over powers of government due to the powers of government being
derived directly via the right of the people to consent to those powers. I notice you mention it in the
sovereign immunity repeal clause but it needs more emphasis.
- The
privacy section needs declarations on private assembly and organization,
and faith beliefs.
- The
families section needs a change: “parents have the right and
responsibility to
raise their children according to their own standards and beliefs.” The LP spends too much time
ragging on government infringement upon the rights of the people and not
enough on the responsibilities that come with those rights.
- Are
there are plans for a section that calls upon the state to refuse to
enforce federal mandates, regulations, and laws that violate the rights of
the individual or infringe unnecessarily upon the powers, duties, and
responsibilities of the state, and possibly prosecute any and all
government agents who enforce such mandates, regulations, and laws?
Not bad so far, but please keep in mind that any
proposal you put forward, if you want to save the trouble of handing them out
to membership at the business meeting, needs to be forwarded to me NLT than 28
March for transfer into the conventioneer kits. Not editing, just transfer into the convention document
template. If they are included in
the kits that saves you all work on the back end, and it will guarantee that
members in attendance will see them.
