As peculiar as it may sound coming from a Libertarian, I am also a member of the ACLU. Mostly because I considered them to be working on justice according to the constitution for many years before I became a Libertarian. They are nearly apopleptic about the Patriot act and the SAFE act, letting folks "sneak and peek" etc., and while I suspect they may be expecting support from the Democrats (their traditional political base), it would not hurt to point folks to information like their reports on folks held without bail, trial etc. after 9/11, when we are trying to proove the point that things are out of control (even the ACLU has noticed!)

I know that by-and-large the ACLU has made some serious mistakes in overblowing small issues of political correctness which took precedence over larger issues of true justice and sticking to the heart of the constitution, but I believe they are realizing their mistake, and to many average voters, they are a big part of the mainstream, particularly in a Dem-rich countly like Boulder.
And they are tacitly (probably unintentionally) imitating Libertarians as they are focusing all of their graphics on the Statue of Liberty these days.
