Hi Everybody, > http://wiki.debian.org/FreedomBox/DistributedNaming.
The research on this wiki page is excellent, but I have serious concerns about the following statement: "The weakness and centralization/hierarchical structure of the DNS standard call for the adoption in the project of another method of naming." When I read this statement, my understanding is that FBX will *not* use the DNS standard. I always assumed that there would be an FBX naming scheme that would *supplement* the existing DNS standard, i.e. FBX's would communicate amongst themselves using some distributed naming scheme, but friends without an FBX would "connect" using DNS. I never heard of Darknet until I joined this project and I wouldn't like FBX to become another "Darknet". Somebody, please confirm that the project will continue to use DNS? -- fiftyfour _______________________________________________ Freedombox-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/freedombox-discuss
