Hi Someone, > You are not allowed to read this mail below this line. I am not > responsible for any content. ... > I am a fan of your project! Somewhere on your homepage it writes > there is no 100 % compatibility with MS-DOS because there are some > undocumented functions. ... > Maybe you are already aware of it, maybe not. The source code for > MS-DOS has been leaked. I am serious, this is not a joke. And I > looked inside the source myself.
Then that disqualifies you for doing any work for the FreeDOS project, and of course it also means that you cannot be a fan of FreeDOS, because otherwise you would *not* try to create a link between our free open source project and pirated software and stolen intellectual property. Please read the old FAQ item about this topic, called: "I have the source code to MS-DOS. Would you like to see it?" http://fd-doc.sourceforge.net/faq/cgi-bin/viewfaq.cgi?faq=Installing_FreeDOS/12 Now for my personal opinion about this: It is completely worthless to steal the source code of MS DOS, because if I wanted to use stolen software, then it is a lot easier to just COPY that MS DOS diskette from somebody or download it than having to COMPILE it. Plus of course FreeDOS can do nice things that MS DOS, which has been dead since 1994 (release of MS DOS 6.22), cannot do... :-p. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_x86_DOS_operating_systems So, have a nice time with your stolen software if you like it, but please do not disturb this project by trying to advertise it to our users. Thank you and good night. Eric PS: You will be pleased to hear that even the source code of considerable parts of Windows got leaked years ago.
