Even if you can't get a full backup of the database, you should be able to export each page with its full history from the current MediaWiki, and import that into any other MediaWiki instance. You'd lose the user database though, which may not be entirely desirable. If hosting is required for a custom MediaWiki installation, I would be happy to offer that.
