Programs I'd find useful, if licensed as redistributable under somethink like GPL or similar: [1] unloadable/resizeable RAMDISK able to use conventional memory [2] USB driver for optical drives [3] ASPI driver for IDE controllers (enabling CD-writing) [4] UNDI packet driver for Wattcp/Mtcp network/internet access [5] EHCI/XHCI driver These are fairly complex. Our original todo-list and goal list mainly listed things like documentation and additional scripting that had to be done still (which hasn't changed that much, I'm slow in improving stuff). As an exercise, you might be interested in creating a bootdisk for yourself that includes most recent versions of all core programs (kernel, shell, drivers, some installation programs and additional software). That makes life a lot more pleasant. If you really want to get things going, setup some development environments (DJGPP, Watcom, NASM/JWASM etc). I've usually been quite scared to even start such a thing.
