Hi,

I am pleased to announce that the first public version (0.9 beta) of my
AGUI user interface library is available for download. AGUI is a fairly
complete GUI library for DOS, Windows and Linux. It is based on the Allegro
game development library. Its primary purpose is to develop applications
for DOS. Windows and Linux compatibility is provided so that the initial
development of the application's interface can be done in a more friendly
environment. The library is free software distributed under the terms of
the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 2.

The following downloads are available:

source code + build stuff: http://intron-trans.hu/agui-src-v090b.zip
binaries compiled for Windows (MinGW):

binaries compiled for DOS (DJGPP):

AGUI reference manual: http://intron-trans.hu/agui.html

I have tested the DOS specific version under MS-DOS 6.20 because I did not
have the time to set up a Freedos environment. Considering that Freedos is
supposed to be highly compatible with MS-DOS there should be no problems
with building the library and running the programs under Freedos. I would
appreciate if somebody could verify this.

The source package contains the necessary stuff (Makefile and scripts) to
build the library using the GCC compiler suit (MinGW for Windows, DJGPP for
DOS and native for Linux). For those people who do not yet have MinGW/Msys
or DJGPP installed, I have provided pre-configured packages of these
systems that are ready for use. See the reference manual linked above for
more details. The archives can be downloaded using
the following links:

DJGPP: http://intron-trans.hu/djgpp-agui.zip
MinGW: http://intron-trans.hu/mingw-agui.zip

The library is fairly complete, but I am sure that there is room for
enhancement. If any of you would be interested in taking part in the
further development of the library please, contact me. We can then discuss
how to do it (where to set up a repository to work with, what kind of new
features to add, etc.).

I hope that the Freedos community will find this contribution useful. I
wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Laszlo
