I also believe Asus BIOS is defective or poorly created, because even after
deactivating those awfull UEFI "security" options it doesn't behave like a
real/usual BIOS.
I don't think it's a "superfloppy" issue, because if boot option 1 is the HDD
then Windows starts normally... but i'm unable to use bootable optical disks
like LiveCDs.
And if boot option 1 is the ODD, then LiveCDs run perfectly, but impossible to
boot on HDD and booting with an empty ODD just shows an error message and
doesn't even look for the HDD.
Error message is "Reboot and Select properBoot device or Insert Boot Media in
selected Boot device and press a key_"

Subject: Re: [Freedos-devel] FreeDOS compatibility issue according to Asus
There is nothing "special" about how FreeDOS boots -- it boots the same way
OS's have been booting for decades. I suspect it's more of a problem with
modern BIOS's (if it's even a real BIOS and not some virtualized EFI/UEFI
thing) not even bothering to test with legacy stuff any more (specifically,
floppy/superfloppy and/or MBR boot records). I do know, for example, that the
way some FreeDOS utilities format disks it is possible for some software to be
tricked into believing a disk is formatted as a superfloppy (no partitions and
a single drive letter) when it's really formatted as a hard drive (with an MBR
and the possibility of multiple partitions and drive letters). This is one of
the many problems I have had to work through as I write my USB drivers. If the
BIOS thinks the disk is a superfloppy when it's really a hard drive (or vice
versa), it won't boot. If this is what the real problem is (and I suspect it
is), the fault is actually on both sides. The BIOS should do a better job of
testing, and FreeDOS shouldn't make an MBR boot sector look like a superfloppy
boot sector even though it can get away with it most of the time.
