I do have plans to one day run 16-bit MSDOS
applications under the 32-bit operating
system. But I have no idea how long that
will take to happen. Meanwhile running
32-bit apps is ready to roll. Also note that
I have a PDOS/86 which does indeed run
MSDOS binaries, but not as well as
Freedos. But 32-bit running 16-bit is a
combination that is not currently available.

It is compatible with MSDOS at the
source code level, depending on the
source code.

My plan was to port the FreeDOS tools like
fdisk to PDOS/386. So I would be modifying
the FreeDOS code, to make it both 16-bit
and 32-bit capable. Before doing that work,
I’d like to touch base with the FreeDOS
developers to see if the work can be done
in a manner that is acceptable to them, so
that I don’t need to maintain a separate
source base.
