Hi Aniket, I agree with what Eric said.
I just want to point out a couple more things… > But the main concern is what are the prerequisites I should be familiar with? > Like shall I read Minix book etc. or something like that to get into OS dev? If you are new to developing for DOS, you should get a good understanding of how DOS works. If you have only developed things for Windows, it is quite different. It is not complicated or hard, just different. I’d recommend getting a book that covers programming for DOS in assembly language. You can find tons of them cheap on eBay and Amazon. While I suggest getting a DOS assembly book, you don’t need one. There are loads of great resources available on the internet. > Or shall I start hacking without any prior knowledge and eventually pick up > the stuff while building something? Some additional resources… https://fd.lod.bz/rbil/ <https://fd.lod.bz/rbil/> (A different flavor of RBIL in html) https://wiki.osdev.org <https://wiki.osdev.org/> (Great, but geared towards modern hardware) > Also in what way I can contribute to FreeDOS with my existing knowledge? Other than some “C”, we don’t know what you know. :-) I recommend starting smaller. Like Eric stated, check the bug reports. ( Mostly the one at https://sourceforge.net/p/freedos/bugs/ <https://sourceforge.net/p/freedos/bugs/> ) :-) Jerome
