Hi All, When the RBE (Release Build Environment) creates a Release or Interim Build, it creates an error.log. Along with any errors that might occur when creating the release media, the log also contains some non-error informational warning messages. For example, it will show warnings when creating an interim build for any package that is using it’s "unstable” branch as a reminder that that branch will not be used if a “release” is created. It will also warn when disk images (like the floppy boot diskette) are “low” on free space.
However, it will also warn about packages whose source files do not exist or are not in the normal location. For some things, this is fine. Take the FDHELPER package as an example. It is just batch and NLS files which are their own sources. For those types of things, I simply put a note in the proper location for the package to let anyone who is interested in sources such information. This is sufficient to prevent the RBE from throwing a bunch of warning messages about missing sources. I have strong dislike for error and warning messages. As of the last Interim Build, all but two of such “missing sources” warnings have been satisfied. The first remaining “missing sources” package is CPIDOS. It is part of BASE and is always installed. Basically, it just contains some binary CPX files with codepage font’s in them along with some documentation. This should probably have a SOURCES directory that contains the actual fonts along with the script or tools needed to create those CPX binaries. The package is listed as GPLv2 and without those files I don’t see an easy way to modify the CPX files. I think this needs resolved. The second package is ROMOS. This is never automatically installed. But, it is included on the BonusCD. For several reasons, I suggest we no longer include it on any of the install media and possibly only keep it on the Download Repository on Ibiblio. First, I don’t think many users are doing much experimenting with putting FreeDOS in ROM lately. Second, the package contains some very old versions of FreeDOS utilities, kernel, command, etc. But, mostly because the package and its disk image files contain several tools and does not provide the sources for them. Only binaries are present for things like AWDFLASH, CBROM215, ROMCHK, SET33, UDMAJR, DYNALOAD, DI1000DD and USBASPI. Therefore, I don’t think it should really be included on the Release Media.
