I believe that OSPIMG is still being maintained by its developer. Although 
there is long time between updates on their website [1], it is still online. 

You should try to report the bug and coordinate any patches you want to 
contribute to them if possible.

Then, we would update our package from the upstream repository. 

As for expanding your knowledge of C, possibly other members of the mailing 
list may be able to point you to some good online resources. Unfortunately, I 
don’t have any suggestions for you. I don’t use C and my knowledge is very 
limited in that language. Nowadays I primarily use Assembly and occasionally 
Pascal.
