Edit: even on Linux, I get timeouts on http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/1.4/edit/ so it is anormaly slow.
Well, I wanted to verifly the exe header of command.com in VMWare to see the value at index A that determines the minimum heap requested by command.com. Because it is a bit unclear why to me it works (not give out of memory error anymore... which version it is exactly, and which patch is applied in or is it the special version 0.86). As biew is in Editors, and not in the main https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/test/FD14-LiveCD.zip I did: fdnpkg install biew And as reported by someone else, I see that I get for each directory: Loading http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/1.4/edit/ well message add ... at the end of the link, but I guess this is only in the display message so for all directories, it result in: Repository download failed. Which I am not sured it is not expected for directories other than the good one (edit in the example). The link seems to open fine in browser (out of VMWare). Edit: sometime failed with timeout cd net cd links using links to go (G key) to www.ibiblio.org seems very slow, resulting in timeout. G www.tunes.org is ok. G www.google.com is ok but G www.ibiblio.org ... ok but G www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/ take very long, sometimes succeed. clicking repositories took very long but succeeded.... Unclear why FreeDOS so slow Now I realize it is very slow in Linux too (Firefox). Maybe timeout is lower for fdnpkg than for links. _______________________________________________ Freedos-devel mailing list Freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel
