I think it is worth providing it as a package, as it is a) very usable on really slow machines and b) it can handle files greater than 64k in size. Neither of this can be said about FreeDOS EDIT. However, I oppose against making it the default, as it lacks features one would expect from a standard editor, like search (and replace) functionality, and undo / redo capabilities.
