Hi everybody,

please have a look at the updated FreeDOS kernel changelog :-)

http://freedos.svn.SF.net/viewvc/freedos/kernel/trunk/docs/history.txt?view=markup

While "only" the first 130 lines are new, comments are
welcome for the first 300 lines. Overview of the lines:

Line 275-299 Build 2035a (for reference)
Line 133-272 Build 2036cvs (may need cleanup / contain 2037 stuff)
Line 67-130 Build 2038pre (basically the FreeDOS 1.0 kernel)
Line 10- 64 Build 2038 (upcoming kernel release :-))
Line 3- 7 General information about bugzilla and SVN www page

The sections about 2038pre and 2038 involved a lot of help from
Geraldo, who condensed our long SVN log to a manageable summary.
Thanks for that, Sir :-).

Please check the changelog for bugs and let me know if there
are kernel issues which should be fixed "yesterday". Otherwise
I would like to make a SourceForge file release for kernel 2038
soon, if possible this week :-). As our internal version number
can count to 255, we can move to 2039 as soon as we want, which
is why I would suggest not to wait for further patches for 2038.

The changes for 2038pre and 2038 can be grouped in:

- changes between 2036cvs and FreeDOS 1.0 (only 4 items)

- changes merged from Tom's extra stable fork of kernel 2035a

- changes from Bart and me for 2038pre

- changes from Bart and me for 2038

I hope it is okay that I did not sort changes further into
Bart's changes and my changes. This allowed me to keep the
changelog close to being chronologically sorted.

As far as I can tell, kernel 2038 should fix the following 7 bugs:

- 1748 DATE fails to store (or read?) year > 2000 on AMD SC400 embedded system

- 1793 djgpp grep called from within rhide doesn't end

- 1840 a:sys b: requires numerous disk swaps with single floppy system

- 1854 Turbo c++ 3.0 fails to run

- 1862 CHDIR fails on substituded drives

- 1953 21h/29h returns 0 (valid) for all drive root names up to LASTDRIVE

- 1956 All file opens fail under specific conditions

Several other bugs were fixed even before they arrived in Bugzilla :-)

Thanks in advance for reviewing the changelog, and have a nice
start of the summertime period if your timezone has one :-).

Cheers, Eric
