I've created now an .vmdk file where you can see the bug happening.
Uncompressed it is ~14 MB and rar compressed it is ~3 MB, good size for
uploading it at some free filehoster. That's the best size and format I
can currently offer.

Is VirtualBox ok for you? In VirtualBox it happens the same thing like
in VMware and VirtualBox added support for the .vmdk format with the
latest stable release.

I've got the echo from the mailing list, it should have worked.

I wasn't sure if I should mirror this mail, in doubt I didn't. Why you
did send it private only?
(After your ok I made it public.)

Well, all debug flags?

Yes and yes. :) Just like the current stable release + as much as debug
as possible.

For harddisks only.

Not that I know of.

Nothing wrong with. Them are pretty simple. A disadvantage is, if you
create a 8 GB big file which is mostly empty then you can not shrink
that file if it was filled at some point.

Not possible in this case. (In creation process of non-standard MBR I
need Windows.)

If you look closer at VMware you see it's extremity good, them are the
market leader. But I do not earn anything for advertising VMware so I
don't try to convince you if you are not interested yourself.

I don't know a way to create an .img (Bochs compatible) raw image....
Starting situation: I have a 8 GB big harddisk, only ~5 MB are used,
rest is free. If you know how to convert the whole disk including
MBR/bootloader into an .img with the size like ~5-20 MB then I will do it.

No.

I tested with FAT32 and in this case it's the only useful filesystem.

Well, the original thread was '[Freedos-user] computer restarting
without error message', in first post I described how to do so in
detail. It stopped with no results and I think we will get the same
result if we discuss it again.

Now I would like to try two things:
- posting some debug informations, hopefully just minor changes are
needed to make it to work
- providing an image where the error occurs
