I saw the bug report (Sourceforge tracker, don't have # handy) and tried finding load.asm from GEM/XM so I could see what it was doing (which commands failed). I never did find it, but did download the GEM/XM so I can run try it. The fix may make it into the 2038 kernel, but if not depending on the actual issue should be in the 2039 release (which my goal is to release shortly after 2038 assuming there is a need and people actually report success or problems with 2038). I seem to recall something about an updated version that used handles instead of FCBs (win98 compatibility issue as well), have you tried the latest GEM/XM with these updates?
