Hi, FreeDOS has the XMS swap FreeCOM command com as the default
on most systems now. If you explicitly want a version which does
NOT allocate XMS, e.g. because you want to load WinCE, then you
should download one... PROBLEM: Do NOT get those files -->
http://freedos.sourceforge.net/freecom/packages/
Do NOT get those files either:
http://freedos.sourceforge.net/freecom/packages/XMS-Swap/
Instead, get one of THOSE files:
http://freedos.sourceforge.net/freecom/packages/082pl3/
The normal XMS swap version is in xmsswap zip, the version
which does NOT use XMS is in binary zip, the sources are in
com082pl3 zip, the "create a version in your language" (several
languages are already included, but e.g. French is outdated) is
in localize zip, and so on.

[Bonus problem:
http://freedos.sourceforge.net/freecom/FreeCOM.html#-download
should link to
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=5109&package_id=9826
but instead it links to some outdated /file?group=5109 URL]

If you use FreeDOS to load WinCE, please behave better than
Neoware.com which have hidden the FreeDOS copyright messages
on their old Eon systems (with FreeCOM 0.76b from 3/1999, FDXMS
driver from 1995, ancient kernel...). Their config sys just
loaded FDXMS and their autoexec bat only ran "loadce /Plogo.pcx nk.bin",
oneliners.

After all, FreeDOS is free, but you should at least be proud of using it.

Eric

PS: Can some WEB MASTER please clean up /freecom/ a bit? Thanks!
