Can you clarify; when your partition table became damaged, were you running EMM386 at the time, and have you tried it without? Maybe you already answered this.

Oh good grief. EMM386 doesn't have the code or capability to mess with disk partitions. Period. FDISK was broken in its default behaviors, which allowed a simple problem to escalate to meltdown. This was documented and verified, and is being fixed by another FreeDOS developer. Enough of this sort of thing.
