Sad to know ISO failed, there's alternative way to install FreeDOS.

Try the 1-floppy installation, download the floppy image from below:

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/1disk/odin060/

I assume your hard disk is clean and contain no data

1) Boot the ODIN floppy
2) FDISK (partition according to your need & mark ACTIVE)
3) Reboot with ODIN in floppy drive (don't skip this step)
4) Type "FORMAT C: /S" (/S to make the hard disk bootable)
5) FreeDOS installed! Copy the other "necessary" files from CD-ROM
