Perhaps also note that in the Bad Old Days it was possible to damage
some monitors by 'overdriving' them - in other words asking them to
display more lines and/or or frames per second than were supported by
the specifications.  The fact that a display might seem to 'work' was
not enough to guarantee that it wasn't being overdriven, it was very
important to check its manual.  I don't know if it's a consideration
here but I thought it worth a mention.
