Howdy,
my goal is to run the DOS game "Space Ace" ¹ on FreeDOS 1.4 inside a VM
in VirtualBox 7.2.4 as host in Debian Trixie 13.2. The game comes with a
640MB CDROM that it's seen as drive D: by FreeDOS. The executable
"spaceace.exe" starts but after the "Configure pane" it freeze when it
attempts to load the first scenario. I've to close the VirtualBox's
FreeDOS window because no key sequence (ESC,Ctrl-C) works in order to
return to the FreeDOS prompt.
The executable "spaceace.exe" allows to run a trial of the game that it
starts (with no sound) but after a while the screen gets
corrupted/scrambled and then it freezes.
Since the game uses emm memory I guess a misconfiguration of JEMM386 but
I don't know why the trial runs with no sound. What can I try?
