FreeIPA only supports building against MIT Kerberos as we use its server API. Heimdal doesn't have it. On the client side Heimdal also does not provide support for extensible pre-authentication mechanisms, so it is not useful for things like external IDP integration or use of passkeys (FIDO2 tokens) through Kerberos.
If you'd install MIT packages, compilation might go further. pe 11. huhtik. 2025 klo 1.28 Rob Crittenden via FreeIPA-users < [email protected]> kirjoitti: > Mik J via FreeIPA-users wrote: > > Hello, > > > > I use Openbsd and try to configure freeipa on openbsd. > > > > ./configure > > .... > > checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config > > checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes > > checking for popt... yes > > checking for krb5... yes > > checking for krb5-gssapi... yes > > checking for kdb.h... no > > configure: error: kdb.h not found > > > > But Heimdal on openbsd doesn't include kdb.h > > Is there a work around to ./configure freeipa on openbsd ? > > > > I don't know anyone has tried building it on a BSD variant so you may be > in uncharted territory.
