Summary: INSTALL file needs additional information about configuration Group: GNU FreeIPMI Submitter: oleholmnielsen Submitted: Thu 28 Sep 2023 06:34:06 AM UTC Category: Documentation Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: None _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu 28 Sep 2023 06:34:06 AM UTC By: Ole Holm Nielsen <oleholmnielsen> I downloaded the master tar file freeipmi-master.tar.gz and wanted to make a build. The INSTALL file just says to do ./configure, however that script is absent! That's pretty confusing, but after googling around I found out what to do. Can you please insert after the INSTALL line "The simplest way to compile this package is:" a new item: 0. First install the autoconf package and run the "autoreconf -i" command. Comment: The need to run autoreconf and furthermore with the -i flag is far from obvious (to me at least, not being an experienced programmer). Thanks, Ole _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?64723> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
