Hi all, I am owing you one more thought that occurred to me. FreeMind is written in Java, linking itself to Swing libraries. This has been always a volatile ground for FreeMind being licensed under GNU GPL. Still, hope could have been cherished for Java once becoming an open source software or replicated under GNU GPL; both is now occurring or has already occurred.
So I agree (given it is your position too) that linking FreeMind to a library licensed under Apache license together presents negligible legal risk as compared to the legal risk already entailed in the fact that FreeMind links to Swing anyway. Quite another question is whether FreeMind's tracker at SourceForge can contain non-open source software. I doubt that; at least, I am not sure it can. SourceForge hosts open software, not freeware. POINT: I recommend avoid posting any freeware to Patches; I recommend only to post open source software.
