Hi folks,
FreeMWare is IMHO one of the coolest OSS projects ongoing.
It also has the potential to be a very popular one as well.
There have been a number of interesting potentials presented
to me WRT the future of FreeMWare. Potentials such as
a company that has an interest in offering commercial
support for FreeMWare, at some point. Since
that kind of thing happens in parallel to an OSS
project, gives positive feedback to it, and helps
promote progress, I have no problem with it.
At any rate, I'm highly in favor of the OSS development
model which receives commercial support. For me personally,
it's critical. FreeMWare is fun stuff to work on, but
it can be very consuming. I'd like to provide access
to more resources for major developers as well.
What I'm doing to bridge this gap, is offering
advertising slots on the main FreeMWare web site.

As I'm not a fan of flashy ad-laiden sites much
like many of the rest of you, the format is simple.
Only one ad will be displayed at a time. There will
be 10 slots available, and we will cycle through each
of the slots, displaying one of them for each page
download. No java, no pop-up crud. Simply a graphic
hyperlinked to a URL of your choice. Our download
stats are available via the hyperlink at the bottom
of the main web-page. FWIW, I'm doing the same
on bochs.com.
Apologies in advance to those who are offended by
the one extra JPG/PNG graphic download. I see a bunch
of other OSS project are doing the same, as a way of
countering life's reality of having to pay the rent.
I insist that the ad graphics are very low bandwidth.
