I don't like the idea of a Mail->Usenet gateway. As you brought out, with it
being only one way, someone posting on Usenet will *not* get an answer from
the mailing list. Therefore, the only thing that Mail->Usenet buys you is
another mirror of the mailing list. With two Web mirrors, what's the point?
The only other thing it does is make my (and your) e-mail address that much
more likely to be grabbed by spammers. That's the last thing I want...
